API Terms of Use

Last updated: April 17, 2026

These API Terms of Use (“API Terms”) apply to your use of the AlphaSmith public API (the “API”). They supplement, and are incorporated into, our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Effective date: April 17, 2026.

Eligibility

The API is available to subscribers on the API tier or higher, as described on our pricing page. Access is personal to the account holder and may not be shared with third parties except as expressly permitted here.

API keys and credentials

You are responsible for securing API keys. Keys must not be embedded in client-side code, committed to public repositories, shared, or exposed to untrusted parties. If a key is compromised, revoke it immediately in the account settings and contact support@alphasmith.ai. We may revoke keys that we reasonably believe are compromised or abused.

Rate limits

Rate limits are published on the pricing page and in the API documentation. Clients must respect 429 responses and documented back-off signals, including Retry-After and rate-limit headers. Sustained abuse of rate limits may result in throttling, suspension, or termination.

Data caching and redistribution

You may cache API responses only for the minimum time needed to operate your own application and not as a substitute for live calls. You may not redistribute, resell, bulk-export, or sublicense raw market data or analytics obtained through the API. You may display derivative views (charts, ratings) in your own product with appropriate attribution, provided you do not reconstruct a competing data feed.

Attribution

When displaying AlphaSmith-provided analytics or AI outputs in a product visible to end-users, include a visible attribution such as “Powered by AlphaSmith” linking to alphasmith.ai.

Acceptable use

All API use is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, you must not use the API to develop a competing product, to evade rate limits (for example, by rotating accounts), or to process data in violation of law.

Beta endpoints

Endpoints labeled beta, experimental, or preview may change, degrade, or be removed at any time. Do not rely on beta endpoints for production workloads.

Changes and deprecation

We aim to give at least 90 days’ notice before removing stable endpoints or making breaking changes. Notices will be posted in the API documentation and sent to the email address on the account.

Support

API-tier subscribers receive email support at support@alphasmith.ai with best-effort response times. Premium support and SLAs may be offered under separate agreements [TBD: counsel input].

Termination

In addition to termination under the main Terms of Service, we may revoke API access immediately if your use materially harms the Services, violates these API Terms, or violates applicable law.
